Iran has a history of attributing such sabotage acts to its arch-foe, Israel, with the latter having been previously accused of engaging in covert attacks against Iranian military and nuclear facilities as part of a shadow war that includes cyber-attacks and sabotage. This ongoing conflict has seen a significant uptick in tensions, particularly following Tehran’s support for Palestinian Hamas militants in their conflict with Israel.
