Florida State (ranked 4th) held off Louisville (ranked 14th) with a 16 -6 win in the ACC Championship Game at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Seminoles are ACC Champions for the first time since 2014. Florida State improved to 13 – 0, becoming one of the three teams in the top 10 without a loss in the CFP (College Football Playoff) Rankings alongside Michigan (ranked 2nd) and Washington (Ranked 3rd).
Despite posting the 13 – 0 record and winning the 2023 ACC Championship Game, the Florida team was not chosen for the playoffs. Instead, Michigan, Washington, Texas, and Alabama got the nod. FSU’s win was the third over a Top 25 team this season and second over a Top 15 opponent. Lawrance Toafili, Running back, was named the championship’s most valuable player (MVP). Toafili led all rushers with ten carries for 118 yards, including a 73-yard scamper that set the team’s only touchdown.
FSU has won 19 consecutive games, dating all the way back to last season. It is the 3rd longest streak in the nation and 2nd longest streak in the program’s history. The Seminoles have been ranked in the top five for fourteen consecutive weeks and have not allowed a team to score 30 points this year!
Most People were upset because Alabama got the College Football Playoff nod over Florida State despite the latter remaining undefeated and winning the championship. Ultimately, Florida State has a point to prove in the Orange Bowl when they face Georgia.
