The Jon Jones vs. Ciryl Gane fight took place on March 4th, 2023 at the T Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada. The former UFC lightweight champion Jon Jones (27-1,1 NC) made his heavyweight debut against the former interim champion Ciryl Gane (11-2). The two were on the night’s main event bout in Las Vegas with the UFC heavyweight title on the line!
Jones became the undisputed UFC heavyweight champion via first-round guillotine by the night’s end. After Jon got an illegal groin kick a few seconds into the game, he had to shake it off and get on with the fight. Luckily, the former UFC lightweight champion cornered his opponent and threatened him with a guillotine choke against the fence. This went on along the cage for approximately two minutes and four seconds, and it was over! Although Gane was able to fight off the guillotine briefly, Jones reapplied his grip, and this time around, he was able to get something out of it. Gane felt the pressure, and he was forced to tap.
It was a short, flawless and top-notch performance from one of history’s greatest mixed martial arts fighters. It was an entertaining main event in Las Vegas. After three years, Jon Jones got back into the ring and claimed the heavyweight champion crown with a round 1 win!
