A pair of US fighter jets, F-15s, executed an airstrike on a weapons storage building in eastern Syria utilized by Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and subsidiary factions, the Pentagon reported Wednesday (11/8/23).

Lloyd Austin, Defense Secretary of the US, stated that the strike was a reaction to a progression of assaults against U.S. staff in Iraq and Syria by IRGC-Quds Force members. He added that the US President prioritizes the security of US faculty, and he accented the retaliation to clarify that the US will protect itself, its personnel, and its inclinations.

Austin said in the statement that the US is ”prepared to take further necessary measures” to safeguard their citizens and their amenities, and urged the Iranian-influenced forces not to escalate the situation.

A senior military authority said Wednesday night that the storage facility, situated in Maysalun’s District of Deir Ezzor in Syria, is perceived to have housed weapons utilized in a considerable lot of the airstrikes that have occurred against the US military in the territory.

The authority added that they are ”certain” Wednesday’s strike didn’t include non-military personnel demise.

The airstrike by the US is the second time it has hit assets used by Iranian-supported militia as a response to almost day-to-day assaults by Iranian intermediaries on the US army in Iraq and Syria.
