The Minnesota Twins became the first team in MLB(Major League Baseball) history to hit 300 Home Runs during the season. Jonathan Schoop pushed the team to the record when he hit the team’s 300th run at the top of the 7th in the win against the Detroit Tigers yesterday.

This year so far the total number of Home Runs hit by MLB has been 6,647 which beat the previous record of 6,105. It’s a major milestone for baseball and the league.

In response to the large increase in Home Runs Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred expressed concern and said that “I do think that we need to see if we can make some changes that gives us a more predictable, consistent performance from the baseball”.

The previous record for a team was 267 Home Runs and was set last year by the New York Yankees.
