President Donald Trump has been declared in “excellent cognitive and physical health” following his annual medical examination, according to a memo released Sunday by the White House. The results, signed by White House physician Capt. Sean Barbabella, followed a nearly five-hour evaluation conducted at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Friday.

Barbabella, a U.S. Navy emergency physician with service in Iraq and Afghanistan, stated that Trump, now 78, continues to maintain strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and overall physical function. The report emphasized that the president’s active lifestyle, which includes frequent public appearances and regular rounds of golf, supports his continued vitality.

The exam included a battery of tests, covering lab work, imaging, and consultations with 14 specialists. Trump underwent assessments for cognitive performance, neurological reflexes, cardiovascular health, and general physical condition. Among the findings was scarring on his right ear from the attempted assassination at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania last July. The wound, though initially described as superficial, left visible scarring but no lingering damage, including to his hearing.

In one of the more closely watched elements of the examination, Trump again took the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA)—a widely used screening tool for early dementia and cognitive decline—and scored a perfect 30 out of 30. The White House confirmed he also underwent screening for depression and anxiety, both of which returned results within the normal range.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump reflected positively on the evaluation, stating, “Overall, I felt I was in very good shape—a good heart, a good soul.”

The exam noted stable weight management. Trump now weighs 224 pounds at a height of 6 feet 2.5 inches, down from 243 pounds in 2019. This places him within the overweight category per Body Mass Index standards but outside the obesity range. His blood pressure was measured at 128/74.

Trump’s cholesterol and blood sugar levels are reportedly well-controlled, aided by daily doses of Rosuvastatin and Ezetimibe, as well as Aspirin for cardiovascular health. He also uses a topical cream for a skin condition, with dermatological exams showing minor sun damage and a few benign lesions. A colonoscopy in July 2024 revealed diverticulosis and a benign polyp, with a follow-up recommended in 2027.

Barbabella’s summary reiterated that Trump is fully capable of carrying out his duties as president and commander-in-chief, stating, “He remains fit to execute the responsibilities of his office without limitation.”

The report is the first full medical update on Trump since the 2024 assassination attempt and comes at a time when health transparency continues to be a public point of interest for presidential candidates. Trump’s fitness, cognitive performance, and recovery from last year’s incident have been subjects of both scrutiny and praise.

As the campaign season progresses, the release of this report is likely to factor into discussions of age, stamina, and capability—topics that have emerged in contrast with other political figures.
