President Trump’s early Friday(10/2/20) morning tweet announced that he and the first lady Melania Trump tested positive for COVID-19. The news shocked many, but many others saw it as a natural consequence. Considering the quality of healthcare presidents get, it’s sad that Trump contracted the virus. On the flip side, critiques didn’t wait to mention that Trump’s own disregard for basic precautions against coronavirus resulted in this sorry episode. Eventually, on Friday after 6:00, ET Trump was flown to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Since then the president and his physicians have updated the people and the press via twitter and press conferences.
Politically, this is big news. Just one month before the election this event has put the Trump campaign in jeopardy. Democrats are also very cautious about how to respond to it. Democratic nominee former vice president Joe Biden urged all not to politicize this. Except for very few negative reactions most Americans wished a speedy recovery of the president. White House insisted the president is not incapacitated and 25th Amendment would not be invoked. The internet is abuzz with conspiracy theories on this issue and next few days the ball will most likely keep rolling. So far, the news is that the president, who is seventy-four years old, is in good spirits and his health is not in critical condition. But there are skeptics who pointed out that any news coming out of this administration should be taken with a grain of salt.
