Minutes after an Israeli airstrike killed Islamic Jihad commander Bahaa Abu el-Atta retaliation rockets were fired into the Gaza Strip.

Almost 200 rockets have been fired into Israel today so far in a retaliatory move after the killing of el-Atta.

In response to the airstrikes on Israel, the IDF(Israeli Defense Forces) said, “The barrage of rockets being fired by Islamic Jihad in Gaza at Israeli civilians after our surgical strike on their commander shows exactly why he was targeted in the first place”.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had said that el-Atta, “Was the main generator of terrorism from the Gaza Strip. He was in the midst of plotting additional attacks these very days,” Netanyahu said. “He was a ticking bomb”.

No casualties have resulted from the missile attacks on Israel yet but several injuries have been reported so far.
