The Coronavirus(2019-nCoV) Outbreak, which first started in Wuhan China, has continued to spread. So far 41 people have died and over 1,280 people have been infected with the virus.
The Chinese government has taken very very serious measures to prevent the virus from spreading. China has currently created a travel lockdown which includes 12 Chinese cities that have over 35 million people.
The virus has already spread from China to 8 other countries which include France, Japan, Nepal, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, United States, and Vietnam.
The WHO(World Health Organization) said, “Signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, the infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure, and even death”.
Yesterday the Chinse Ministry of Finance announced they were allocating 1 Billion Yuan(equivalent to 144 Million US Dollars) to help with the control and prevention of the virus. The Ministry of Finance stated that “Recently, pneumonia epidemics of new coronavirus infection have occurred in Wuhan and other places in Hubei Province, and the situation of prevention and control is severe. In order to implement the spirit of General Secretary Jinping ’s important directive on the epidemic of new-type coronavirus infection and support the fight against epidemic prevention and control, on January 23, in accordance with the deployment of the State Council, the Ministry of Finance urgently allocated Hubei Province’s new-type coronavirus-infected 1 billion yuan in control subsidies to support Hubei Province in carrying out epidemic prevention and control related work”.
The United States issued a Level 4 warning regarding travel to the region and the UK issued a travel warning saying, “The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advise against all but essential travel to Wuhan city, Hubei Province”.
As China rushes to build a new hospital in Wuhan by February 3rd to help handle the outbreak, people around the world are becoming more and more concerned with the virus. There is currently no known cure for the latest outbreak and 25% of the cases are extremely severe.
