This year’s presidential election was one of the most contentious in recent history. Both parties, Republicans and Democrats, hoped their candidates win. But by the end of the election week on Friday, it was increasingly apparent that the Democratic ticket was on the verge of winning the election. As it is customary, major US news networks projected that former vice president Joe Biden would win the election. Usually, in most election years the other contenders would concede, but that didn’t happen this year. President Trump insisted that there was major voter fraud in this election. He wants the ballots recounted. To that end, his campaign has filed a flurry of lawsuits in multiple states. In tune with these events, the president’s followers called for the 1 Million MAGA March, which had been demonstrated in and around the Freedom Plaza in Washington DC on Saturday, November 14, 2020.

In addition to the 1 Million MAGA March, the demonstration has used some other names, including Stop the Steal and March for Trump. But all of them had the same theme, protesting the results of the election. As the names suggest, the protesters were not happy about the election outcome. Along with many Trump supporters multiple organizations, including Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, were present in the protest. Radio talk show host Alex Jones was one of the speakers. Opposing left-wing groups had a plan for counter-protest, but the entire event was mostly peaceful. The high point of the event was the appearance of President Trump’s motorcade for a short period, which visibly energized the crowd.
